Designating Your Gift

You have a say where your gift goes.

It takes a lot to run this place. Ticket sales only cover a fraction of our costs – and some of our programs only exist because people give generously to ensure the arts are thriving and reaching the whole community.  Here are the key areas where your gift can make a difference:

Arts Education

Since the doors to the Straz Center opened in 1987, we have been committed to making arts training accessible to all. Gifts designated to support Arts Education will help bring artists from every corner of the world to visit Tampa Bay area schools; put teaching artists in classrooms to help develop student skills in music, dance and theater; and bring disadvantaged children and families to The Straz to experience a world-class performance.

Patel Conservatory Scholarships

We have numerous students at our Patel Conservatory who need help covering the tuition and fees to pursue study in music, dance and theater. Donations provide financial aid for need- and merit-based scholarships, and give these kids their moment in the spotlight, fueling their hopes and dreams.

Operation Tickets

The Straz makes tickets available at low or no cost to people who might not have the budget for a full-priced ticket.  Low-income individuals and families, educators, students, military and first responders all have access to special offers through Operation Tickets. We also use this program to distribute tickets that are donated back to us – and the donor gets a receipt for the ticket value as a tax-deductible gift. Cash gifts to this program help offset the ticket costs for the many tickets we give to our community partners and other worthy non-profit organizations.

Opera Tampa

The resident grand opera company of the Straz Center, Opera Tampa produces the highest caliber of grand opera in the region, complete with the spectacle and grandeur that makes opera “the queen of the performing arts.”

Area of Greatest Need

At The Straz, we’re more than just a show. We are the Patel Conservatory, where thousands of kids awaken their talents and explore their passion as performers. We are a vast network of partnerships, working with more than 50 non-profits and underserved schools to provide resources so they can experience the arts. We are a gathering place for friends to see a show, we’re an anniversary treat, a birthday present, and a free show in Curtis Hixon Park or on the Riverwalk. We’re able to be all these things to the community because someone like you sees the value in having a thriving arts scene in our town. Giving to the Area of Greatest Need helps make all this happen.
